So, Beth finally had baby Jack after 32 hours of labor on December 19th. It was profoundly hard for her, but we made it through. At the end, I had ended up being awake for a little over 58 hours, and Beth was awake for almost as long. She was a real trooper.
There were a few very helpful nurses, two in particular were Glenda who made sure that the tags that were bugging Jack's feet were moved to his hands, and Gwyn the lactation consultant, who was really really nice to Beth.
Beth is really really tired. And in a little pain. I'm kind of tired too, needless to say. But I'd say it was all worth it.

Wow! Congratulations Peter! Less than two months for Ashley and me to experience the same momentous occasion. I hope that Ashley doesn't have to endure 32 hours of labor, though! Beth is a real champ for hanging in there like that. I wish the three of you all the best. --Tom
Thanks man.
Hey, word of advice, pack plenty of snacks. Or have wonderful friends/family who will bring you stuff to eat/snack on, like we did.
congratulations! that's one cute baby. you guys are going to be awesome parents.
Wow! He is beautiful! Beth is beautiful! Pete, you are beautiful! I'm awestruck. Congratulations. You guys know we love you and miss you and all that jazz. I'm babbling... it's just SO exciting!!! Enjoy your first weekend as a daddy and give your amazing wife a hug from us.
Peter and Beth...
I'm so very happy for you both. Best Christmas gift ever.
Selfishly, I'm sad that we're not around to celebrate with you. At least we'll see you three in a few weeks at the Tol.
(our trip to KC fell through since Jess is very sick so we won't be able to drop in on Sat.)
Merry Christmas and much love to you, Beth, and Jack.
I am soooo very excited for you guys. Jack looks like the Roys. Hang in there, it will be rough for the first couple of months, so SLEEP! SLEEP when he sleeps and any chance you get! Take care of one another too! Its hard on both of you, but enjoy every moment. What a wonderful Christmas gift!
Love Laura (Krueger), Emma and Donavon Somers
You deserve a party, all three of you!
I'm not sure we could handle a party right now.
In a few weeks though, that sounds like fun.
I'm going to take the high road and not point out to Ken that he COULD be back living in NWA...whoops. ;)
Huzzah for Jack in arriving before Dec. 26--now it'll be one very merry Christmas. Jack is one groovy dude, and I've gotta say I don't think he looks like anybody yet--mostly just himself. And he has a great nose and really long fingers. We're looking forward to spoiling him...and to teaching Sophia how to interact with him without trying to smack him.
Merry Christmas, y'all!
Wow, you guys are parents! Aahhh! Supercute. :)
