I'm tired of hearing apologists. I'm tired of excuses. I'm tired of no real explanations about all the people who sat and WAITED for DAYS for Federal help that came far far FAR too late, and as a result, suffered and died.

Let's get this straight. What is the purpose of the Federal government? Is it to create a plutocracy? Because that's what they're doing right now. Anyone who is pretending that that isn't going on is amazingly good at fooling themselves, or they just don't care. The rich are getting richer in America, and the poor are getting poorer. And it's not by accident or mistake, it's by design. There's plenty of evidence for those willing to look for it.

The true purpose of the Federal government is to "form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity," according to our Constitution.

Has the general welfare been promoted? I would say not. What about insured domestic tranquility? Nope. FEMA has fucked that ALL up.

I won't even talk about a war that we fought for all the wrong reasons (and how many people died as a result), or a peace that we're losing thanks to administration bungling, or the breeding ground for terrorist cells that WE'VE created. I won't even talk about funny business with the elections, even though there's plenty to support such a view. This is all about THIS particular series of criminal fuckups.

I'll end this simply with another quote from the Constitution:

"Section 4 - Impeachment

The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors."

I've honestly got to go a different direction here. And I know it won't be popular...

Where is the impeachable offense? Where are the "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors?"

Mismanagement...sure. Poor response...sure. Criminal acts...not so sure.

Don't get me wrong...I have no love for the current administration and the Fun Party would be a preferable alternative.

Is lying to go to war treasonous? I'm not qualified to make that call. I know the Spanish-American war was started on a lie (Remember the Maine) and we recovered from that. It was essentially a land grab by the US.

AS for NO and Katrina... right now I can't get straight the timeline regarding requests for aid and declarations of emergency. The Mayor of NO...has not distinguished himself in this crisis either. And it is clear that the Dem. governor is at odds with the Feds...but again...how is this impeachable?

Remember, Congress had to approve the appointees to these positions (sure it's a rubber stamp when your party controls...but some blame can go there as well).

I recommend everyone go watch the Daily Show. Tuesday and Wednesday's episodes were particularly biting. I think you can view the main bits online.

Here's the impeachable offense: Mass murder by, at the least, massive incompetence on the part of the administration. The Federal government, and by extension, the Executive branch, has very grave responsibilities in such situations. The administration, quite simply chose the wrong person for the job, and when it was apparent that he was fucking it up, did not step in and get the job done right.

The U.S.S. Bataan followed Katrina in, and was ready to drop water and food. All they were waiting for was Presidential authorization. This did not come for over three days. Three days AFTER the hurricane was gone.

So whether you think that the actions (or in-actions) of the administration, that resulted in the deaths of possibly THOUSANDS, were merely a massive bungling of historic proportions, or something much more malicious, it doesn't matter. Intent is not the question. Results are what this is about. Criminal negligence. That's what this is about.

Hell, there's STILL no FEMA presence in many parts near Biloxi and Gulfport. Because FEMA doesn't want to 'tax the infrastructure.' WTF? A bit like burning the village to save it, if you ask me.

Criminal negligence.

There's your 'other high crimes.'
